This tumblr is an assortment of sporadic posts ranging from discussions of my academic interests (major in Philosophy, minor in Anthropology, and another in LGBT/Gender Studies), to personal posts, fawning over celebrity crushes like Jon Stewart, Ryan Gosling, Jason Segel, NPH, etc. Shows like Doctor Who, Sherlock, HIMYM, and others. In the class today we were discussing the political aspect of fandom, or political expressions in fandom and the topic came to evaluating media critically and within the framework of fan-practices and our professor posed a question regarding “news sources” and The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Some people said the reason for the surge in popularity is the lowering quality of news sources, I said at least partially because they are elevating the way in which we critically evaluate “news” and the ways in which it is presented, and we talked about everything from 9/11 First Responders Bill, to the Rally, to the Super PAC, etc. And the way in which the correspondent bits and clips played from other sources sometimes display major parts of fan practices and “vidding” norms. And it was a spectacular time.
